Course Description
Our Licensing Law Awareness course will give learners a deeper understanding of the Licensing Act 2003. It is relevant to any business in England and Wales where alcohol is served or supplied.
The Licensing Act 2003 applies to any premises in England and Wales where alcohol is sold or supplied, and we understand how daunting legislation compliance can be. Therefore, we have designed a course that will make it simple and comprehensive for you.
Our Licensing Law Awareness course aims to give you the knowledge of the Licensing Act 2003 objectives, explaining how your business can achieve them.
It will also explain your responsibilities under this act and the seven compulsory conditions all premises serving alcohol must abide by.
Our Licensing Law Awareness training also covers the dangers associated alcohol including underage drinking and the effect it has on people. It will discuss how these dangers can be managed and the legal requirement are for keeping children safe from harm.
Who should take this course?
Our training has been designed for the members of staff who have responsibilities in premises which serve alcohol, including managers, supervisors and employees.
It is relevant to the vast number of premises that can be covered by the act, such as bars, pubs, restaurants, hotels, B&Bs, sport clubs, social clubs, members clubs, concert venues, stadiums, theatres, cinemas and any temporary event organisation.
Learning Objectives
- State the objectives of the Licensing Act 2003 and how to achieve these
- Understand the difference between a premises license, a personal license and a Temporary Events Notice, when it is applicable to use each and what the responsibilities are with each one
- Have an awareness of the seven compulsory conditions that all premises serving alcohol must adhere to
Accreditation
Our Licensing Law Awareness course has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines.
Test and certification
At the end of the course, you will be required to answer 15 multiple choice questions to assess your understanding of the licensing law. A 75% pass mark is needed and there will be six attempts to achieve this at no extra cost. If more than six are required, you will need to contact the team to arrange an additional try.
When the 75% pass mark has been achieved, you will be able to download and print a allergy awareness certificate for your records.
Course duration
Our Licensing Law Awareness course should take one to two hours to complete, though this depends entirely on how quickly you learn and absorb the study material.
As the course is self-paced and progress is recorded throughout, you can easily complete the training in stages.

What our clients say
Optimal People and Business are experts in all things HR. We worked successfully with them to produce a series of information videos to help businesses during the Corona lockdown. We are looking forward to working with them again in the near future as we grow our business.
We personally dealt with Vici at Optimal and she was a delight. She was open and honest and gave great advice and guidance. She helped us deal with what could have been a very difficult dismissal with a problematic member of staff. I would not hesitate to recommend Vici to any business for their HR.
Can’t thank Mel and the team enough. Really helped my business in a crisis. Looking forward to working with you and the team.

I've used Optimal PBS on a couple of occasions now to assist with due diligence on an acquisition i've been working on and also to provide contract and handbook production. Cannot fault the support or advice provided.
We love this company and Mel is a god send to our business, she sorted everything for us from employee contracts to helping us source the right accountant, she is at the end of the phone whenever I have any HR questions (even when on holiday) can not fault her commitment. Keep up the good work!
