Course Description
Anyone who works in catering or hospitality needs to be aware of the latest food hygiene standards.
Knowing how to clean and disinfect equipment, safely store and prepare food, and control common pests will allow you to handle food safely and ensure that you’re complying with all of the relevant health and safety standards.
They can also benefit from peripheral courses which bolster their skills in areas such as first aid and health and safety which can help employers meet additional legal obligations around employee safety in the workplace.
The Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene certificate is designed for anyone working in a food environment such as a café, restaurant, take-away or school. It gives confidence to customers and demonstrate the compliance of your organisation.
A basic understanding of first aid will help learners know what to do if they are first on the scene of an accident, including how to assess the situation as a potential danger zone and how to assess the condition of a casualty following AVPU (Alert, Voice, Pain and Unresponsive) principles.
Employers are legally required by Fire Safety Regulations (The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005) to provide information, instruction and training to employees about fire precautions in the workplace.
The material is provided in an interactive format that is designed to be engaging and accessible. A basic knowledge of food hygiene will mean learners progress quickly, but the course is designed for anyone working in the service or hospitality sectors and should be suitable for any staff member to give them the knowledge needed to work effectively and safely.

This Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering course is designed to help you comply with EU Regulation 852/2004, which requires food businesses to ensure that any employee who handles food is fully trained in food hygiene. The contents of this course also adhere to the Industry Standards set by People 1st and the Sector Skills Council for the Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism industries.
